Amazon Den 8
The entire schedule on this project, from dirt work to the certificate of occupancy, was less than one calendar year, allowing the owner to operate during the 2021 holiday season. ViCon worked diligently with the General Contractor during preconstruction to design and implement a plan that would meet the customer’s schedule. On February 17th, 2021, ViCon broke ground with less than 45 calendar days to install 10,425 CY of foundation concrete. One crew was tasked with meeting the structural steel schedule, which included excavating, setting, and pouring 400 CY of concrete per day. Many column foundations were over 4 feet deep with double mats of #11 rebar, 80 CY of concrete, and anchor bolt sets that weighed 1,000 lbs. Another crew was tasked with meeting the Pre-Cast Wall schedule, which required setting and pouring approximately 160 LF of cast-in-place wall every day. Even with this work taking place during the harshest months of winter, our team was able to finish the foundations on time without any delays to structural steel or precast.
Slab on grade began on March 10, 2021, following column pad installation and was poured in the open ahead of structural steel installation. There were a total of 16 slab placements, averaging 62,500 SF and 1,350 CY each. Our team was able to negotiate the winter months with ground heaters, blankets, and ready-mix additives to complete the main warehouse slab on April 27th, 2021. Even with multiple weather days, this was less than 3 days per placement to fine grade, form, install a 15 mil vapor barrier, slab reinforcing, and pour.
